Damage from unexepected events
Protects your property against lossor damage caused by:
- Fire (including bushfire) or explosion
- Storm or rainwater Damage from violent wind, cyclone or tornado which may also include rain, hail or snow.
- Flood The covering of normally dry land by water that has escaped or been released from the normal confines of any lake, river, creek or another natural watercourse (whether or not they have been altered or modified), or any reservoir, canal or dam.
- Escape of Liquid Loss or damage caused by the accidental escape of liquid from:
- Rainwater pipes, roof guttering and drains;
- Water mains or pipes;
- Water tanks, aquariums and hot water systems;
- Gutters;
- Washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators or freezers;
- Other parts of your building designed to contain or carry liquid such as sinks, basins, baths, showers and cisterns. - Lightning Lightning including power surge caused by lightning.
- Earthquake or tsunami Damage caused by an earthquake or tsunami, but excluding damage caused by the actions or movements of the sea.
- Impact Impact by: Motor vehicles or watercraft, aircraft, space debris or satellites, falling trees or branches, drones, TV antennae, satellite dishes or radio masts.
- Accidental glass breakage Accidental glass breakage in: Fixed glass i.e. windows, fixed basins, baths, shower bases, and lavatory pans or cisterns.
- Riot, civil commotion or public disturbance
- Oil leakage from any heater
- Electric motor burnout A motor in a household electrical machine or appliance needs to be repaired or replaced because the motor has burnt out by electric current at the property.
We do not insure you for bushfire, storm, flood or tsunami in the first 72 hours of your policy. Very limited exceptions apply. Read the PDS for more detail.
Damage caused by tenants,visitors or unknown persons
Protects your property against:
- Accidental loss or damage Sudden or unexpected loss or damage that is neither deliberate nor motivated by spite, malice or vindictiveness which is caused by you, your family or your non-paying guests – e.g. a saucepan is dropped and damages the kitchen floor tiles.
- Tenant damage Theft, loss or damage caused by the tenant, the tenant’s family or the tenant’s invited guests.
- Break-in vandalism or theft Theft or damage due to theft caused by: an unknown person (e.g. a burglar)
Loss of rental icome
Up to 52 weeks
If your building is damaged by an insured event and becomes untenantable for more than 7 days, we’ll cover your loss of rent for up to 52 weeks (and no more than $50,000 per year for holiday rental properties).
Also covers
We cover your legal liability for an occurrence that causes death or bodily injury to other people, or damage to other people’s property, up to the limit of $20 million.

Up to $2,000 per claim
Accidental loss or damage

Untenantable
If your property isn’t fit to house a tenant for a minimum period of 7 days due to: damage to the building caused by an insured event including: Malicious damage by unknown persons, theft, fire or explosion, lightning, earthquake, riot or civil commotion, water damage, oil leakage, accidental glass breakage, impact, flood, storm or rainwater, or electrical motor burnout.
Up to 52 weeks loss of rent (and no more than $50,000 per year for holiday rental properties)
Legal Liability
Our policy covers your legal liability as the landlord for an occurrence which causes death or bodily injury to other people, or damage to other people’s property, up to the limit of $20,000,000.
Up to $20million in legal liability
This content applies to new policies and renewal policies commenced or renewed on or after 29 March 2021.
